How do we measure success of Seattle’s housing programs?

Programs like Seattle’s Housing Levy, the Multifamily Property Tax Exemption (MFTE) Program, and Incentive Zoning (IZ) provide essential funding for affordable housing. Despite the importance of these programs, there is limited information around how many units of housing are needed for which income groups, or how funds will guarantee housing for our most vulnerable residents. Benchmarks allow Seattle to address affordability for every policy or program. We can use measurable expectations to quantify housing needs for all levels of income, and regularly evaluate if we are meeting each area of need.
